Your Questions About Travel

Sharon asks…
Where do you get the best last minute travel deals?
I LOVE to grab my backpack and travel! I have some discretionary income and lots of free time and flexibility in my schedule.
Where are the best places to search if you want to go somewhere soon for a great price?
It seems like most “last minute deals” aren’t much of a deal, and that others are simply advertising scams.
Thanks!

The Expert answers:
I like site59.com. It lets you create your package (air, car, hotel – all three, just two, etc) and they have packages for the upcoming weekend and the weekend following.
They also have a link for trips under $250.

George asks…
How can I find last minute travel deals from Montreal?
Ideally, I would like a website where I enter my origin (e.g. Montreal) and am given a list of flights/packages to different destinations. Currently I can only find websites that I can search for specific destinations, or sites which do have last minute deals but from several origins, usually none being Montreal. Also, if you know of any good travel agencies in Montreal that I could visit, that would be helpful, too.
Thanks in advance

The Expert answers:
There are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely give you the best prices available. Check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. It’s very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online… Otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. Good luck.

Betty asks…
How do I find last minute travel deals based upon where I am?
I’m trying to find last minute deals to go places. The bad thing is, every website I go to tells me places to start and finish where I’m not. IE: Las Vegas to Seattle, Miami to Chicago, when I’m someplace else. This is irritating.
Is there any service you know of that lets me plug in my city, ie: San Diego” and get a list of deals from that city to other places?

The Expert answers:
Not really, but here is the next best thing go to kayak.com and select SAN and check the box for nearby airports. Incredibly sometimes it cheaper to fly out of Carlsbad.
Have a list of cities you want to visit and pop them in one at a time. You can also register for email updates for certain cities.
On Southwest, sign up for DING fares. And you will get updates anytime there is a sale in San Diego (or OC and LA if you choose).

Sandra asks…
Are there a lot of last minute travel deals to the Carribean in June?
I just want to know if I should book ahead or take the risk. Will their be as many last minute deals in June as I see there are now?

The Expert answers:
There are always last minute deals throughout the year and June will for sure. You’ll also find the prices lower during the off-season (summer months).
Most of the time most people usually book last minute anyway because they’re always available.
Keep checking the different agencies, shop around and when you see a good deal, contact another agency and see if they can match or even give you a lower deal (as most will for business).
I wouldn’t consider it a bad risk to take at all. I do it most of the time hassle-free.

Ken asks…
Which websites have good last minute travel deals?
I’m looking for an inexpensive vacation for the Labor Day weekend. Most interested in Las Vegas, San Francisco, or Key West but will consider others too. Which websites have good last minute deals?

The Expert answers:
I think to see all last minute deals on all websites there is one unique website that u should definitely try is
http://farechase.yahoo.com
it scans all big or small travel websites within a minute and shows the lowest rates of the flights , plus u can also search for hotel in the destination that you are flying to. Instead of checking all those websites written above in other ppl’s answers, just try this addy and u wont believe what u see, bet u will love it and add it to your favorites right away…
