I am traveling from Los Angeles in the US, and all the usual online sites, like Priceline, Orbitz, Travelocity, etc., don’t seem to have anything available for that area for travel discounts. What is a good travel agency to use for a good deal? Or should I just stick to just using the actual airline?

Aer Lingus has a nonstop service from LA to Dublin in Eire. Maybe a US carrier has as well.

From Dublin you could get a local flight to Londonderry or take the train. Either way you end up in Londonderry and after that it’s 15 miles by surface transport to Moville. Best if you could have somebody meet you with a car as Moville is rather remote.

Man Utd Travel Package Q:ONLY PPL FROM IRELAND PLEASE?

I want to book a travel package to see Manchester United play at Old Trafford in late October/early November: I already know which dates Man U are playing but what I want to know is:
Has anyone from Dublin or anywhere in Ireland bought a package deal from a travel agency?
If so, how much did it cost you?
Because I am thinking of booking everything separately myself (tickets, accommodation, flights) but am wondering if it’s possible to do it this way.
I kinda want to book through a travel agent, but I hear they charge a lot.
If you can help, I would appreciate it,,,,,,,,,,,and dont bother telling me to go to allremedies.com, some people seem to think that site has the answer to everything.

My boyfriend goes over about 3 times a yr to man utd. Matches. When he goes with his dad it’s a package from an agency where they get the ferry over and then bus it to manchester, spend the night in a hotel, match tickets etc, the last time it took 16 hrs travelling each way and was a nightmare! It cost about €500. When he goes with his mates they get the ryanair flights (book it now before ryanair cop it’s a busy weekend and up the cost of flights) to either manchester or liverpool can be just as handy. They spend 2 nights in a decent hotel and have match tickets etc and it usually costs anywhere from €300 to €500 depending on the cost of flights

I don’t know much about the bankrupt deal going on, but I’ve been trying to find more out about it.
I don’t have much money, but I was considering going to school there (already have associates going for bachelors) or traveling there for at least 3 weeks.
I also need more information about traveling to Europe. I don’t really know much about the money differences.
It seems so much different from America. So any other information about going there would be great.

The Expert answers:

If you have no money, then it’s not guaranteed at all you’ll manage to survive here. There are no jobs around, so you couldn’t get one, specially being a non-European. That is if you even get a visa to get one. So a long term move right now is out of the question. Now a 3 weeks visit, if you have money to cover that, it’s like any other place you go as a tourist: whatever is happening to us won’t really affect you. We used the Euro and we don’t take dollars. Just remember that.

The Expert answers:

Aer Lingus from Shannon is prob your best bet for flying direct (depending on where you want to fly to in the US of course). Their cheapest prices are online www.aerlingus.com Other than that, you can look for flights that connect you through London. Can sometimes be less expensive, but take longer. It’s really up to you which you prefer…
Use www.kayak.com to get an idea of different options of carriers for the route your interested in, and then check those airlines websites yourself because you can sometimes find cheaper prices on them yourself.

The Expert answers:

From where?
—- updated
Ok, BOS-SNN end of June. If you depart by the 23rd, Delta has it cheapest at $579 rt total with taxes and fees, but it connects via JFK. If you want nonstop, then cheapest is $675 Aer Lingus. Best and cheapest to book direct from the airline(s).

http://www.aerlingus.com

$579 is a superb fare on this route in summer. I’ve been tracking transatlantic airfares daily for the past 11 years, and it would be unheard of for this fare to go much, if any, lower. In fact, it’s more likely to increase as the cheapest seats sell out first. I would book it now.

Should this really have been this annoying?

I have been communicating with a guy for about 4 weeks via email and phone. He is new to dating and is trying to begin a Single life after being married for 26 years. We had made plans to meet on Saturday, for the first time, but the weather did not cooperate with us. We had about 3 inches of snow in the morning hours till 2pm and we were suppose to meet at 12:30pm. At 11am, after 2 inces fell in 2 hours, I called to postpone our meeting as the snow didn’t look like it would stop soon and we had a weather advisory and a travel advisory. When I suggested we reschedule for the following Saturday, he said “well, I guess I can understand, perhaps another time”. His tone was disappointed and his “well, I guess..” didn’t sound like he truely understood. I reacted by attempting to get my car up the hill I live on, but couldn’t get traction, got stuck and spent an hour digging myself back into my garage. I was kicking myself as I knew it would be a stretch to get out but his disappointment made me feel like I should be trying harder even though I knew beter. I haven’t heard from him since Saturday and he was communicating daily. I’m not sure if this was something to get that upset about, if I can controll the weather, I would understand. However, I’m unable to control the weather. Should this have been this much of an issue? I kinda feel like he shouldn’t want me on roads that are icy and slick (we’ve had alot of ice and very cold temps..its 16 degrees now.
Dear girl….you answered your own question in the very last line of your letter. Can you imagine what
being in a relationship with such a person would be like? This is obviously someone who, if everything doesn`t go their way..watch out! No thought or consideration for the other person or their circumstances. [please him or else]A normal person would have behaved very differently in those circumstances…Already you have put yourself in a subservient role to please his huge, totally unrealistic expectations of other people.{which you never will} and now you are being “punished” by his not contacting you…This man is a huge red flag..and you continue at your own peril. Much better not to get involved with this type right from the start..Yes.move on…look carefully at how already this relationship is affecting you? You are confused and stressed..feeling guilty..and inadequate, and you haven`t even met him yet!!! It will only get worse. I do wish you all the best

What is the situation on racial violence in Ireland?

Did you know that there is a travel advisory for American minorities who are thinking of traveling to Ireland about recent racially motivated attacks?
Have been myself, thanks, was asking as a friend was worried. She is non-white and in a mixed race couple and was worried.
Actually, just googled it and more recent attacks on Poles have happened just last month. http://www.irishabroad.com/news/irish-voice/spain/Articles/The-Polish-Murders-in-Dublin080308.aspx

I was hoping for some news from someone there rather than news reports. Violence happens everywhere, but I really just want to put my friend at ease. I would hate for her to not visit due to this.
Not offended at all subst99, I know our international reputation. But violent crime rates have been dropping nationwide for years in the US. I know that that isn’t often highlighted in the news abroad, but it’s true.

Should I make my new BF go to Tijuana, MEX with me?

I recently met the “perfect man” for me. Even though we just met he flew me out to New York to visit his family for New Year’s and we had a blast!

Unfortunately, my family is torn apart – my dad messed up and never squared away his citizenship in the 80’s and is stuck in MEX until at least November, when he can “safely” sneak back home to our family. So in the meanwhile, we all travel down past Tijuana to a cool, secured and private marina where he lives on a boat. Further, my pops would pick us up and be with us the whole day trip.

My BF’s family doesn’t want him to meet my dad because they’re scared due to the travel advisory; and frankly I think he’s scared too.

Is he wack for not going? Is it wrong to break it off because he won’t meet my dad and/or because he won’t man up to going?

The Expert answers:

First, and most important, you should make him do anything.

However, he should stop worrying and just go. If he loves you and is interested for real, he will not even worry about it. I my ex-gf is Colombian and I spent a lot of time in Colombia with her family without any issues (apart from the normal 3rd world kind of stuff). When you are with people that are local, they know how to deal with it, and make sure that you don’t do stupid things. And if he is worried for himself, is he not worried about you visiting? I was always more worried for my ex’s safety than my own, especially when she was there alone…

It is a little provincial to worry about that stuff, unless you are going into an actual war zone (think the Gaza strip right now).

Hey, a lot of people are worried about going to NY, and if he lives here, he should be streetwise enough to do fine in Mexico.

I’m new at traveling and I need a last minute room this Friday! How?

I need a room for 2 adults and one 4 year old this Friday in Eau Claire, WI, Stanley, WI would be better but anywhere in the area would be cool. This is so short notice and everyone seems to be booked. Should I drive around the city and find a spot? Hotels.com seems to charge for 2 days (Fri and Sat) when I only want to spend Friday night there. It would say room at $60 a night and you go to book it and it’s $120! Do they charge per person or something? Is there a way to do this?

She doesn’t have internet and I don’t have a credit card so would it be practical to go to the city and find a place, does anyone even do that anymore? Or shuld I call? What is the easiest way to do this?

This is my first time traveling without my parents, even though I’m 21 now, and I have no clue where to start! Thanks

The Expert answers:

If you don’t have a credit card, I would call ahead of time to see, what their policy is and if they have a room. Some places will only hold a room if you have a credit card while others might hold it until a certain time for you, as long as you get there by that time, but I think calling ahead is a better plan. Can always get a list of hotels and details on them from triple A guides, Frommer or Mobile travel books from the library or a Barnes and Noble or similar bookstore, where they would have the most up to date travel guides.
About 3 days between leaving an orbit around Earth and settling into an orbit around the moon.

After launch on Saturn V SA-504 on July 16, 1969 from pad 39A of Kennedy Space Center, Apollo 11 entered Earth orbit. After 1 1/2 Earth orbits, the S-IVB stage was re-ignited at 16:16:16 UT for a translunar injection burn of 5 minutes, 48 seconds putting the spacecraft on course for the moon. The CSM separated from the S-IVB stage containing the LM33 minutes later, turned around and docked with the LM at 16:56:03 UT. About an hour and 15 minutes later the S-IVB stage was injected into heliocentric orbit. During translunar coast a color TV transmission was made from Apollo 11 and on July 17 a 3-second mid-course correction burn of the main engine was performed. Lunar orbit insertion was achieved on July 19 at 17:21:50 UT by a retrograde firing of the main engine for 357.5 seconds while the spacecraft was behind the moon and out of contact with Earth. A later 17 second burn circularized the orbit. On July 20 Armstrong and Aldrin entered the LM for final checkout. At 18:11:53 the LM and CSM separated. After a visual inspection by Collins, the LM descent engine fired for 30 seconds at 19:08 UT, putting the craft into a descent orbit with a closest approach 14.5 km above the moon’s surface. At 20:05 the LM descent engine fired for 756.3 seconds and descent to the lunar surface began

What is the best way to search for ground travel fares, for vacation trips?

They also provide all the training and support I need to be a successful travel agent. When you sign up with the company you get your creditials in a couple weeks after signing up. This is a very legitimate and trustworthy company that has been in the business for over 5 years. Also publicly traded. Watch this presentation for a little more information: http://www.travelproinsider.com my personal site is http://www.ytbtravel.com/kuhlber

The Expert answers:

Go to Buenos Aires, Argentina. You can’t miss it. I visited the city with some friends last July and it was just amazing. In a month you’ll get to see/do so much! The food is absolutely incredible there (they are well-known for their steaks and parrilladas). The culture is so rich: of course, they have the tango. You can catch tango shows in the streets in downtown sometimes. They also have more excluvise tango shows in theatres. Some restaurants in Puerto Madero (Buenos Aires) offer free tango lessons!

The city’s architecture is classical/prehispanic with a mix of modern in the Puerto Madero area. People are generally friendly (not all of them of course, but for the most part).

If you are a sports fan, can’t miss the Boca stadium or the River Plate Stadium. The Boca is home to a very special soccer hall of fame, famous particularly because of Maradona and FIFA’s current No.1 soccer player in the world – Lionel Messi.

You can travel to the surroundings of the city – it is very easy to travel around the city: whether it be by bus, taxi or even walking.

Hope this works for you. Good luck in your trip!

What travel documents does an International student need to travel within Canada?

Hi,
I am an International student in Toronto and would like to fly to Vancouver for a couple weeks. I wanted to know if my passport is sufficient ID for me to travel on. I received an extension on my study permit but have lost it. Will that be a problem?

The Expert answers:

Well, you should replace your documentation for your study permit but to travel within Canada you will probably not need it. To fly within Canada you have to be able to prove who you are which, under Transport Canada regulations, you must have a valid piece of government issued photo ID which a passport is. For a complete list you can check the Transport Canada website (link below)

The Expert answers:

You should be perfectly fine in Jordan right now. My mom and sister (who are Americans) were just there a couple of weeks ago and they had a great time. I have lived in Jordan for a few months myself and outside of a few heated bartering sessions with merchants I did not experience any hostility. Jordan is a very safe country and it is extremely unlikely that anything will happen to you. The level of danger is about the same as being in any city in the US. Really the worst things you have to fear are taxi drivers who will rip you and running out of sunscreen.

The Expert answers:

The link you have provided is the correct information. You do not need a passport unless you decide to fly into Mexico.

The passport deadline hasn’t been determined yet. Having your drivers license or some other form of governement issued I.D. Is required now. Come January 31st, you’ll need your birth certificate to go along with your government issued I.D.

Once again, let me say it, you DO NOT need a passport right now to travel to Mexico UNLESS you intend to fly.

The Expert answers:

Sorry but WrestleMania 24 has already been and gone. But I’m guessing that you mean WrestleMania 25. Just keep pestering your parents and they will soon get the idea that you want to be there to see the PPV live. If not, see if your friends like wrestling or another family member and maybe you can go with them. If all fails, then be patient and wait until you are old enough to travel on your own. Go to WrestleMania 30 or something.
But good luck.

Do you need reservations to get rooms in Ireland? B&B packages?

We’re planning a trip for this March, and would like to just find little hole in the wall places to stay, but are worried that we’ll end up finding things all booked up and spend half the trip searching for rooms or sleeping in the car… I’ve found places that offer B&B packages, but I’m worried that they are newer buildings and more Americanized accommodations… has anyone had any experience with traveling either way?

The Expert answers:

I run a small B&B in Co. Cork. Do not worry at all, in March there are hardly any tourists, you will find most B&Bs will have vacant rooms. If you go to major towns then just find a B&B during the day, they all have signs outside just find one you like and knock the door. Otherwise the local Tourist Information centre will be able to help you.

There are many accommodation websites now if you want to pre book your accommodation, you don’t need to take up a “package” as such. Just google “B&B accommodation Ireland” or whatever part of Ireland you are interested in visiting. I don’t think we have “Americanised accommodation” in Ireland so don’t worry.

traveling to Germany: what are the best places to see?

I’m looking into traveling to Germany this spring with my family, tentatively scheduled for 5/20-6/3, and I would like to know the best places to visit.

As a starting point, I decided that we should fly into Berlin and stay for a few days. I’ve picked out several attractions and places of interest for us to consider, but I know we would also like to travel outside of Berlin, as well.

We do not have a hotel booked, and we planned on getting hotel rooms as we go along. We just got back from Ireland in July, and we stayed in one hotel due to a travel package on priceline.com. However, we decided we wanted to see more of Ireland than just Dublin, so we had to rent other hotels as we went to the Southern and Western parts of the country. We drove most of the time, which was fairly convenient.

Anyway, I would like to know of other places to visit outside of Berlin. I’ve been told that the Romantic Road is a great starting place, with many medieval towns, castles, and the like. I realize, though, that Germany is a much larger country than Ireland and may be more difficult to get around by car (and by difficult, I mean that I don’t really want to spend an entire day in the car…). I know trains are very popular in Germany, but we will be carrying all of our luggage with us, so I’m wondering if that will be a problem.

Additionally, we were looking into possibly heading into Switzerland or France for a couple of days during our trip. If we were to do that, is there any kind of border control, such as with the U.S. and Canada? Ideally, we would like to spend at least 2 days in each city or town that we visit. If you could provide any information about places to visit (keeping in mind that our starting — and ending — point is Berlin) and travel information (whether we should rent a car or take a train, even with all of our luggage), that would be great. Thank you so much!

Also, if this helps:
I’m traveling with my family — my mom and dad, and most likely my brother (I’m 19, he’s 28).

The Expert answers:

Travel in Germany is simple and there are more worthwhile things to see than you have time to visit.

It all really depends on what you are looking to see. Berlin is a vibrant city with a young crowd but not what American’s think of as quintessentially German.

I would recommend visiting Dresden. It’s a smaller city about 2 1/2 hours drive south of Berlin. The old city was completely destroyed during the the fire bombing in WW2 but has undergone a massive rebuilding effort. All of the sites are withing walking distance of one another.

Munich is certainly worth the visit. Too much to list all there is to see and do.

Hamburg is my favorite city in Germany – great night life and museums.

I would also recommend looking into the countryside. There are plenty of little towns that still have medieval centers that are worth exploring. Rothenburg ob der Taube is a little outside of Munich and is worth checking out.

Trains are expensive to travel by if you are traveling from state to state. Rental cars are affordable and driving in Germany is easy enough if you learn a few basic rules.

Any one heard the TSA advisory about Math teachers being a threat to airline travel ?

A public school math teacher was arrested today at John F. Kennedy International Airport as he attempted to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a set square, a slide rule and a calculator.

At a morning press conference, Attorney General Hillary Clinton said she believes the man is a member of the notorious Al-gebra movement.

She did not identify the man, who has been charged by the FBI with carrying weapons of math instruction.

“Al-gebra is a problem for us Hillary said. “They desire solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on tangents in search of absolute values. They use secret code names like ‘x’ and ‘y’ and refer to themselves as ‘unknowns’, but we have determined they belong to a common denominator of the axis of medieval with coordinates in every country.

As the Greek philanderer Isosceles used to say, ‘There are 3 sides to every triangle’.”

When asked to comment on the arrest, President Obama said, “If God had wanted us to have better weapons of math instruction, He would have given us more fingers and toes.”

I might want to wait til XMAS for some nice deals and spend a few hundred more bucks for a Duo Core Mobile though(right now you can get some for $499), Celeron’s are a little slow in my opinion.

help me edit my scholarship essay?

can someone please help me edit my scholarship essay and give me suggestions please.
Without a college education many job opportunities would be limited. A college education not only provides a person with experiences, increased knowledge, and life lessons but it also opens a variety of opportunities in the working force, giving a better chance for success. High school students who pursue a higher education have more options when it comes to jobs; they have better career opportunities and can assist our knowledge based economy.
Our society’s workforce has become extremely competitive and many jobs are scarce. People without a degree have less options and usually have low paying jobs. It is tougher to find a job without a degree. These are some of the reasons why I desire to continue my higher education. I would like to have a job were I can have stability, satisfaction, security, benefits and much more but this can not be possible without an education. I want to be able to succeed, help out my community, and serve out as a role model for my brother and others. I also want to be able to support my family when I grow up because nothing of what I have done would have been possible without their support. I believe that an education is not simply going to school and learning the subject matter, it’s more than that. An education is the key to success.
My goals are to graduate from high school and attend a four year college. I plan to major in international business while following a pre –med path. Then I will continue my education by attending medical school and becoming a pediatric oncologist. Since an early age I discovered that my career path to follow would be in the medical field. I’ve always been passionate about helping others and making a difference in someone’s life.
In the summer of 2009 I attended a forum of medicine at the University of Emory. The program was offered by the National Youth Leadership Forum of medicine. This experience helped me confirm that medicine is what I want. I was able to shadow a doctor, learn important and interesting information, and I was also able to help in a hospital and watch live surgeries. The following summer I volunteer in a hospital in Medellin, Colombia. This experience left me with a better appreciation of life and with a commitment to help those in need. I want to able to travel around the world and help as many people as I can. The Colombian experience really opened my eyes and helped me understand how fortunate I am.
Dropping out or failing, is not an option for me. The desire to Succeed and make a difference is what motivates me everyday. Through my high school years I’ve always tried to give the best of me while being active in my community and school. In my school I’m involved in several clubs and sports. During my senior year I had an emergency surgery for appendicitis. Unfortunately, I had to miss over two weeks of school right before finals. When I got back to school I had two days to make up all my missing assignments, tests, homework’s, understand all the material I missed and study for finals. It was hard to make up all the work for six classes and deal with my physical pain do to my surgery. I was able to turn in all my assignments, take my finals and still managed to get good grades.

The Expert answers:

First, anyone on the college admissions board who would be reading your essay is looking first and foremost for what is unique about you. This helps them judge whether or not to admit you. They already knows that college education helps people get better jobs. If you are applying to a large school that gets a lot of applicants, you may not get the admission boards to read past the first 12 sentences as they are very generic. I would eliminate them all together and start with something that will grab their attention. I’ve edited your essay below and put additional comments in brackets.

I’ve always been passionate about helping others and making a difference in someone’s life. Since an early age I decided [you can't discover your career, you decide it] that my career path would be in the medical field. I hope to majoring first in international business, then attend medical school to become a pediatric oncologist. [My next thought if I were the admissions person is, so why medicine, and why international business instead of biology or chemisty or more common pre-med majors? ]
In the summer of 2009 I attended a forum of medicine at the University of Emory, offered by the National Youth Leadership Forum of medicine. [Your next sentences tell me what you did, but do not reveal WHY it interests you. Perhaps say sometime like: This experience helped confirm my interest in medicine. By shadowing a doctor, helping in a hospital and watching live surgeries, I felt, I thought, I realized....finish the sentence with sometime that reveals something about you.]
The following summer I volunteered in a hospital in Medellin, Colombia. This experience left me with a better appreciation of life and with a commitment to help those in need. I want to able to travel around the world and help as many people as I can. The Colombian experience really opened my eyes and helped me understand how fortunate I am. [Is this why you want to major in international business, because you want to travel? If so, it is not obvious.]

[Your next paragraph is a drastic change of subject and need a better transition. I included one]
I realize that I will face a lot of challenges in order to meet by goals. But I am no stranger to challenge. The desire to succeed and make a difference is what motivates me everyday. Fir example, during my senior year I had an emergency surgery for appendicitis, and missed more than two weeks of school right before finals. When I got back to school I had two days to make up all the work for six classes, and study for finals while still dealing with physical pain due to my surgery. Despite this obstacle, I was able to turn in all my assignments, take my finals and still managed to get good grades.

Through my high school years I’ve always tried to give the best of me while being active in my community and school. I’m involved in several clubs and sports. [This sentence is way too generic and reveals nothing about you. If you want to mention which clubs and sports and community activities you participate in, and show how they shaped you as an individual, I would include something about them; otherwise I would leave it out]

[You need a better conclusion; you begin talking about passion and helping people and making a difference; your conclusion should find a way to tie back to that,]

The Expert answers:

You say your Cuban fiance is currently in Mexico (presumably from Cuba) but then you ask if “they” would allow him to enter Mexico? Who, the Cuban authorities, or the Mexican authorities? Regardless, apparently, if he is there now and entered legally. Certainly the US authorities have no say in whether a Cuban national enters Mexico.

And are you saying USCIS refused to answer your questions? And which visa section have you been trying to call?

You have left out so much crucial information that it is difficult to answer beyond suggesting that you contact the US Interests Section in Havana:

Consular Section

Huge flying anxiety!! Needs help?!!?

I’m 21, and I booked a trip for my boyfriend and I to the Dominican Republic from Toronto about a month ago. I’m so excited to travel, but am terrified of the plane ride!! Since the day I booked it, I haven’t been able to sleep properly, have had nightmares, and have cried tears of fear. I watch a lot of Mayday and shows like that, in some senses I’m doing it to myself…I’ve had discussions with co-workers talking about fate and this and that, and now I’m more freaked out. I’ve seen videos on you-tube of plane crashes. I’m so terrified and I’m too young to die. What can I do? I’m scared that when we leave, it’s going to be the last time we’ll have seen our loved ones. I’m sooo paranoid. I’m fine during the day when I have other things to focus on, but the minute I put my head down to go to sleep, the thoughts race through my head, and I can feel my heart excelerating. I have 11 days until we leave, what do I do? I’m also flying with Sunwing Airlines, and I’m scared because they are not a major airline. I flew with Air Canada 2 yrs ago when I went to Cuba, are Sunwings planes just as safe? Is it also true that if you had a gut feeling not to get on the plane, that it would be really noticeable, that you’d just know? I mean, you’d know if something really bad was going to happen right? I’m not worried about terrorism or anything, but mechanical error or an error by the pilot. They say that a lot of accidents have been a combination of both. Do you think it matters whether the pilot is older or younger, male or female? In experience terms. I love the idea of travelling and seeing the world outside where I live, but flying is really freaking me out (a lot of media influence) and I don’t want to be paranoid and ruin the adventure of flying. My boyfriend is already getting pissed that I keep talking about something bad happening on the plane. I just can’t help checking into info about plane crashes…Eeekkkk!!! Please help! I want to enjoy my trip! Does it get easier the more you fly?

He needs to stay in Mexico, or another country until you can get his fiance visa form approved. Sorry but he should not go back to Cuba, he is likely to get stuck there. Whatever he does, he cannot come to the USA before he gets his visa. If he were to get picked up, or not show an entry date in the system, ICE will not allow him to stay even if you two get married. I know a couple that is married where he can’t stay in the USA for just that reason.

You’re right, the USCIS does not say anything about that.

I’m assuming you are a US citizen.

For what I know, you can file for a fiancé visa and the US government will not treat it different than the others.

The only problem I see is, that in order to get the visa, he would have to go for an interview at an American Embassy or Consulate and it depends on the Cuban government whether or not they’ll allow him to leave Cuba and travel to another country to do that (I’d say not necessarily Mexico).

I don’t think yours is the first and only case. There must be a way to deal with it. Just file the I-129F form and see what happens.

It’s all I can say.

I wish you lots of luck!!!

Are you optimistic or pessimistic about the future of the USA Economy?

Are you optimistic or pessimistic about the future of the USA Economy?
Looking back, I remember immigrating to the USA as a political refugee from Cuba in 1980, remember my mother making a little bit of money at the factories in Secacus, NJ and buying a few bags of food with just 40 or 50 dollars. I remember going out to clubs in NYC with my wallet full of money and walked across Studio 54 when they opened again in the 80′s. Back on those days my diet was Lobsters and Shrimps, my father opened a Fish Market in New Jersey and saved over 100,000 in a few years, and travel around the world. I’m sure that many people around the States experience the same good economy condictions that we had from around 1984 to 1990 when the country headed for reseccion. I was extremely foolish to think that good times will never last, don’t want to be pessimistic but good times will never return in the ways that we saw in the 60′s 70′s and 80′s, the economy was also strong from 93 to 2000. The statistic acording to Econmist says that the USA Economy went downhill since 1976, these are the facts, since 1976 the economy in the States is down. Mr. Stiglitz, a great Economist said that the War in Iraq damaged the USA economy, of course, no country in the world has money to spend in War, plains, weapons and everything else. In 1980 employees worked 40 hrs a week, now is 50 hrs per week, american employees are slaves, working with just a few hours of vacation a year. Don’t mean to be pessimistic, but good times will never return, unfortunally. Do you agree?

I agree with you…but what I was trying to say is that we will never see in the future the standard of living that we experienced in the 50,s, 60′s 70′s and 80′s, the 90′s were good but not better than previous years.

I will honestly be surprised if our economy doesn’t continue to plunge,
possibly to depths few in this country can remember. I am stockpiling canned food, and ammunition for my guns. There has been an on-going global food crisis already, even prior to the financial slow down the world is engulfed by. When the food shortages (aided by the bio-fuel fervor) comes, I want to be as prepared as possible.
There are hard days to come…..

Travelers insurance for a Diabetic?

I am planning to study for a few months in Vietnam but have not been able to find insurance which will cover insulin or other diabetic issues (they are considered pre existing conditions). I am wondering if anyone may have any suggestions as to what I might do in order to be covered on this level. Does anyone know of any more comprehensive travelers insurance?

The Expert answers:

There are several companies who sell insurance for travel, and all have different coverages and requirements. Your travel agent will be able to help you! I have a pre-existing myself, and she always gets coverage that includes that, the only hitch being that the insurance must be purchased within 2 weeks of booking the trip (we get the coverage on the day of booking just to be absolutely sure we don’t forget it until it’s too late for pre-existing coverage). Talk to your travel agent.
